of Election Sunday & a New Beginning

blogging like it’s 2005

MoSep 6, 2026

Election Day in part of Germany. And most likely it will lead to the first far-right government of a federal state since Nazi-Germany. Let that sink in. As a disabled trans person it’s terrifying. And it should be terrifying to everyone. We all know how this ended the last time. I guess in the end Germany will always be Germany, if no one from the outside stops it. What the people that care do can never be enough, no matter how much we try. Because they are more than us. And that is what brought us here. Back to this. Brought us back to an election that will most likely lead to the first far-right government of a federal state since Nazi-Germany.

Writing has always been my way to make sense of things and deal with life and everything that comes with it. So what better way of coping now than to start blogging again while watching German democracy die?

I started my first blog in 2005, the age of blogs and message boards. Half my life lies between then and now. And I missed it. The social media era was nice. Or at least part of it was. But after the whole internet changed so much, I miss what it was. All the small spaces we had. Connections that weren’t influenced by algorithms. Maybe this is me getting old. I don’t know. I really like the ATmosphere and can’t really deal with other things outside of it anymore. So ATmosphere blogging is the obvious choice to go back to it. And after looking at different options and trying them out a bit, pckt feels really close to what blogging was back then without it feeling old or out of time.

And at the same time I’ll use this for a sort of new beginning.

As a marginalized person online the line between sharing parts of your life and public suffering can sometimes be blurry. And a lot of people like to read exactly that. With ableists and transphobes and all the other creatures you have to deal alone though. And overall I’m tired of every part of this dynamic. Especially in a world like this that is getting more and more dangerous. So I’ll go back to focusing more on writing again and we’ll see where this goes.

My blogs always were my space to put thoughts and poetry and other types of short-form writing that needed a place, and I used to write “Sunday Thoughts”. And I guess that’s what this will be too. A good place to start with until I have figured out what blogging in 2026 can look like.

Not long until the first predictions now. And in the end it won’t really matter how bad it’s going to be. Because where we’re at now already shows, what this country has become again. A threat to marginalized people. And that that’s what a majority wants.

And so I write. And dream. And write. To make sense of things and deal with life. And with this Election Sunday.
